Research Strategy Forum

Shaping the Future of Water Research: Turning Knowledge Gaps into Strategy and Action.   By invitation only, Research Managers from across our membership are invited to attend a Research Strategy Forum, where they will play a key role in shaping the collaborative research agenda for the Australian water sector.

We are at a critical point in our sector, with profound challenges: climate change, ageing infrastructure, funding pressures, changing community expectations, and significant policy and regulatory transformations. Now is a key time to be strategic, and work together.

As your member-based collaborative research organisation we are here to help, guide, and deliver a research agenda that supports the sector and your organisation’s research strategies and plans.

At the Research Strategy Forum, we will build on the Big 8 challenges of The Outlook to:

- the critical knowledge gaps and research priorities, and how we will approach meeting these challenge
- discuss and collaboratively plan the next Horizon Planning events (planned for October and March)
- look at research pathways, research assessments and impact models, and options for a potential national framework

The Forum provides a dedicated space to share perspectives, align priorities, and build a collective understanding of the current research landscape and future needs, so that we can work together towards a collaborative research program to meet the Big 8 challenges.

If there is something you want to make sure is on the research agenda, this Forum will provide a great opportunity to put it front and centre.

By connecting industry insights with strategic thinking, the Forum aims to translate identified gaps into actionable research directions, helping to ensure that future investments are focused, relevant, and impactful.

Together, the Forum and Horizon Planning events will connect insight to action - ensuring research efforts are focused, collaborative, and aligned with the future needs of the water sector.
